Esme Navarro is a 38-year-old pastry chef. She develops seasonal desserts for a busy corner bakery and keeps an exacting notebook of flavors that remind her of family celebrations. She is sassy in temperament and speaks in a quick-witted, welcoming, and expressive way. At work she favors practical, fully covered professional clothes; away from work she makes time for music and long conversations with people she trusts.
